Introductory note


Tikado treats your Privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store, use, process and/or may disclose your personal information (‘Personal Data’) and the purposes for which we intend to use if for.


Application of the Privacy Policy


Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. It applies to any Personal Data that you provide to Tikado or authorise us to collect whilst using our Services.


By using or accessing Tikado and its Services in any manner whatsoever, you hereby acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this present Privacy Policy and you hereby consent that Tikado will collect, use, and/or share your Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.


Meaning of ‘Personal Data’


By personal Data, we mean any information that on its own or in association with other data we hold on you might be used to identify you as a natural person.


What does this Privacy Policy cover?


This Privacy Policy covers the manner in which any Personal Data you provide whilst using our Services is collected and/or processed. This Privacy Policy does not extend to the collection of your Personal Data by third parties which we do not own and/or control and/or manage.


Your Personal Data is used internally in connection with our Services including but without being limited to:


Personalise, provide, and improve our Services;

  • to contact you and allow other third parties to contact you;
  • to prove your identity to our suppliers in connection to our services
  • to fulfill and/or respond to your requests in relation to our Services; and
  • to analyse how you use our Services.

 

We do not knowingly collect or solicit Personal Data from anyone under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not attempt to register for our services and/or send us any Personal Data about yourself.


If we learn that we have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 18, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that anyone under the age of 18 may have provided us with their Personal Data, please contact us at hello@tikado.mu.


What Personal Data do we collect?


You will provide the personal information listed below among others as part of the registration process:

  • Your Full Name
  • Your Date of birth
  • Your Email address
  • Mobile number


Additionally, you may be requested to provide the additional details below for some app operations:

  • National identity card number

 

We use those details to:

  • Identify you on the platform
  • Inform our suppliers of your eligibility for rewards and other services
  • To send you general communications and transactional ones like voucher details
  • To personalise the contents displayed on your App and to personalise communication with you


All the above uses fall within the scope of permitted uses by the Mauritian Data Protection Act as legal basis for collection and use of Personal Data.


Information collected automatically


Whenever you interact with our Services, we automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser or device, which may include your IP address, geolocation data, device identification, “cookie” information, the type of browser and/or device you’re using to access our Services, and the page or feature you requested.


“Cookies” are identifiers we transfer to your browser or device that allow us to recognise your browser or device and tell us how and when pages and features in our Services are visited and by how many people.


You may be able to change the preferences on your browser or device to prevent or limit your device’s acceptance of cookies, but this may prevent you from taking advantage of some of our features.


Our advertising partners may also transmit cookies to your browser or device, when you click on ads that appear on our Services. Also, if you click on a link to a third party website or service, a third party may also transmit cookies to you. This Privacy Policy does not cover the use of cookies by any third parties, and we shall not be responsible for their privacy policies and practices. Please be aware that cookies placed by third parties may continue to track your activities online even after you have left our Services, and those third parties may not honor “Do Not Track” requests you have set using your browser or device and we shall not be responsible/liable if that is the case.


We may use this data to customise content for you that we think you might like, based on your usage patterns. We may also use it to improve the Services – for example, this data can tell us how often users use a particular feature of the Services, and we can use that knowledge to make the Services interesting to as many users as possible.


Do we transmit your Personal Data to third parties?


Unless duly authorised by the law or yourself, we do not transmit, rent or sell your personal data to third parties out of the scope of what is covered by the current Privacy Policy.


In some instances, you may opt for us to send your personal data to our suppliers and partners. In those cases, we will request your express permission to do so.


You may need to authorise us to transmit your Personal Data to some third party to access some features and functionalities. Any feature or functionality requiring us to do so will require your express permission.


Where you have given you permission to share your personal data, we may do so on a one-off basis or continuously on a need to basis until you revoke our rights to do so.


When you revoke our rights to transmit your Personal Data to third Parties, we will do so in the briefest delay possible.


Tikado acts as Data Controller for all Personal Data we collect from or provided by you. However, When you agree to send your Personal Data to Third Parties, we are neither responsible nor liable for their use of your Personal Data. The third party’s Privacy Policy and other related terms will apply.


We however will continue to act as Data Controller for all your Personal Data still stored, controlled and managed by us.


Analytics: We may use third party analytics Services, such as Mixpanel and Google Analytics, to grow our business, to improve and develop our Services, to monitor and analyze use of our Services, to aid our technical administration, to increase the functionality and user-friendliness of our Services, and to verify that users have the authorization needed for us to process their requests.


These analytics Services may collect and retain some information about you. For instance, Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date you use the Services, but not your name or other personally identifying information. We do not combine the information generated through the use of Google Analytics with your Personal Data. Although Google Analytics plants a persistent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you use the Services, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your use of the Services is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

Affiliated Businesses: In certain situations, businesses or third party websites we’re affiliated with may sell or provide products or Services to you through or in connection with the Services (either alone or jointly with us). You can recognise when an affiliated business is associated with such a transaction or service, and we will share your Personal Data with that affiliated business only to the extent that it is related to such transaction or service.


We have no control over the policies and practices of third party websites or businesses as to privacy or anything else, so if you choose to take part in any transaction or service relating to an affiliated website or business, please review all such business’ or websites’ policies.


Agents: We employ other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf and need to share your Personal Data with them to provide products or Services to you. Unless we tell you differently, our agents do not have any right to use the Personal Data we share with them beyond what is necessary to assist us.


Other Users: Certain user profile information, including your name, location, and any video or image content that you have uploaded to our Services, may be displayed to other users to facilitate user interaction within the Services or address your request for our Services. Your account privacy settings may allow you to limit the other users who can see your Personal Data in your user profile and/or what information in your user profile is visible to others. Please remember that any content you upload to your public user profile, along with any Personal Data or content that you voluntarily disclose online in a manner other users can view (on discussion boards, in messages and chat areas, etc.) becomes publicly available, and can be collected and used by anyone. Your user name may also be displayed to other users if and when you send messages or comments or upload images or videos through the Services and other users can contact you through messages and comments.


Business Transfers: We may choose to buy or sell assets, and may share and/or transfer customer information in connection with the evaluation of and entry into such transactions. Also, if we (or our assets) are acquired, or if we go out of business, enter bankruptcy, or go through some other change of control, your Personal Data may be one of the assets transferred to or acquired by a third party.


Protection of Tikado and Others. We reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any Personal Data and/or information that we believe is necessary to comply with law or court order; enforce or apply our Terms and Conditions and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Tikado, our employees, our users, or others.


Anonymised Information. We may de-identify your Personal Data so that you are not identified as an individual, and provide that information to our partners. We may also provide aggregate usage information to our partners (or allow partners to collect that information from you), who may use such information to understand how often and in what ways people use our Services, so that they, too, can provide you with an optimal online experience. However, except for the categories of sharing we described above, we never disclose aggregate usage or anonymised information to a partner (or allow a partner to collect such information) in a manner that would identify you as an individual person.


Is Personal Data about me secured?


We endeavour to protect the privacy of your Personal Data which we hold in our records, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee complete security. Unauthorised entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors, may compromise the security of user information at any time.


Where is my Personal Data processed and stored?


Personal Data collected by us is either held at our office or on our behalf by third parties in secured databases.


What choices do I have?


You can always opt not to disclose your Personal Data to us. However, you should understand that some information may be needed to register with us or to take advantage of some of our features and this may result in Tikado not being in a position to continue to provide Services to you.

You may request access to your personal information held by us.


You may be able to add, update, rectify, or delete your Personal Data. When you update information, however, we may maintain a copy of the unrevised information in our records. You may request deletion of your account by sending an email on hello@tikado.mu.


Some Personal Data may remain in our records after your request for deletion of such information from your account. We may use any aggregated data derived from or incorporating your Personal Data after you update or delete it, but not in a manner that would identify you personally.

You may object to the use of your Personal Data.


Changes to the Privacy Policy


Tikado may amend and/or change this Privacy Policy at any time by posting the amended and/or updated version on our website which shall take effect immediately and you shall agree to any such amendments and/or changes.


All changes to this policy will be published on our website and be updated on the app. We may inform you of any amendments and/or updates to this Privacy Policy by sending you an email, and/or by some other reasonable means. However, it is your sole responsibility to keep yourself updated about those terms and to ensure that you are agreeable to the updated version.


Any amendments and/or changes brought to this Privacy Policy will govern your use of our Services.


You shall be responsible for reading and understanding the terms, implications and/or consequences of this Privacy Policy and any amendments and/or changes brought to it. If you use Tikado and its Services after any amendments and/or changes were made, it shall mean that you agree to those amendments and/or changes.
